I have owned a '04 650 since May 2011. It arrived with just 37 hrs and it came with what some consider to be FS jetting, but I believe this to be NZ specs where there are no restrictions. The jetting came as 160mj, 200maj, ekr needle, 45pj and 100paj. I purchased one of Taffy's kits and persevered with swapping needles and following recommendations, and I eventually hit the what I consider to be the jackpot. The end result is 42pj, pilot air screw 3/4 turns (equivalent of 75paj), 160mj, 200paj, and Taffy's needle on clip 7 from the top (out of 9 slots), mixture screw out 2.2 turns. Although there is a tiny bit of snap crackle and pop from high speed deceleration, I feel there is more power with the 200maj than the 155 and 178 maj I also tested. Starting is easy, throttle control at crawling speeds is good and acceleration from zero through the range is explosive. In short, its running like a dream. Some of the jetting differs from Taffy's recommendations in the pj; Starting, bottom end grunt and transition to midrange is best with the 42pj, and when the needle takes over you need to be hanging on. Numerous jetting combos with original EKR needle did not produce anywhere near the performance of the "jackpot" set-up described above. All credit to Taffy's needle; I do recommend it.

you are one of the few people to give feedback so thanks for that. the PJs are all over the show with some getting the 32.5 to work and you on a 42. all I'd say is: keep testing! the 450s tend to be nearer the 35 end and the 650s nearer the 40.

the feedback is invaluable.

thanks
