2004 501?

First of all I really fell in love with Husaberg, its going to be my first Sumo/enduro.
So I've started my quest to find the perfect Husa for me, after some research I discovered that the 04+ models are pretty reliable.

But know I found a nice 501 on the web. He took care of it very well, change oil and air filter after every ride etc..
But now the owner claimed it to be a '04 model! And I can't find any information regarding the 501 '04.. Can someone help me out?

hello peterberg and welcome to UHE. please have a look through the doc on the left of your screen for a lot of info especially chapter one named "year recognition....".

also put your location (and eventually your bike model when you get one) in your signature as well.

husaberg did make a rare 2004 501 and if it is genuine it will have the later ignition and clutch covers. get used to these in photos from here and then go and check the bike out.

So if its a genuine 501 '04. It's lots better then the '03 model?

I actually want to make it into a Sumo.
Can I leave the suspension and brakes for what it is?
I know I need a bigger Front disc. But can I use the same brake calliper?

What else do I need to change?

If you'll change the suspension setup it will become another bike, more for road use. I also still have the enduro brakes, but they get heated imidiatelly, so It's desirable to change the front disk to a bigger one (beringer, braking, motomaster,...). The brakes themselves are okay for road use if you don't want to do races and lots of trackdays.

And can you post a photo because I think which bike you mean (I think it's one from Maaseik), and then it's a 2003 with first "road papers"(I don't know the word) of 2004.

No it really is a 2004!
He sent me a presspresentation.. The f501 2004 was also pronounced in it.

OTTOMH when these were announced here in Oz they still had the SEM and Dellorto. Happy to be flamed on this, but check that you do get the Keihin and Kokusan.

501s are great, but for Sumo, more cc is better I reckon.

I have one more question, there's a 120 reartire on it right now.
Why would you go for a 120 instead of the standard 140?
