2003 fs650

hello, just bought a 2003 fs650, and have read that the 2003 is one of the worst models to have engine wise, is there any truth in this????

thanks, i've had a look but can't see anything that specifically relates to the 03 being bad, can anyone shed any light on this?

Well I have a 2003 650 too, and so far the kickstartshaft has broken just like it is mentioned in the owners doc, and the e-start is not much help if u want to start it. Since I've replaced the shaft I have done about 500 km, off-road only, in pretty harsh conditions, and it's still going strong(fingers crossed). I guess the main thing is to change the oil regularly. Sooner or later they all break down.

It was a bit over 100 GBP(with postal fee), but this is the hardened one, which is fitted to 2004+ year models.
