Ive made a few phones calls and sent several emails. Appears im too late and they discontinued the rekluse for my bike..

Does anyone have any other sources for an autoclutch of quality?

Thanks
Tim

Check out EFM they make an auto clutch using your clutch basket.

Also an 04 and up rekluse will fit if you change your fiber clutch plates to later ones. I had one in my 03.

thats right ... efm will still make you one,

IMHO our clutch diameter is too small to create enough force to prevent slipping. in the 650, it was basically unusable in my conditions, even tried full 28 tungsten balls, many others found the same, we've done force analysis of rekluse vs efm and there is not much difference.

Interesting!

Does the power of the 650 have anything to do with slipping? In other words, would you tink a Rekluse/EFM is more feasible on a 450 for instance?

yes the 450 requires less lockup force for the same rpm so is more feasible

the problem is that our clutches have a similar diameter to a 125 2t clutch and there just isn't enough centrifugal force available at this diameter for the 650s relatively low rpm

So it may not be worth getting I take it? The idea of having one seems great. Now that my idle is not hanging and I have solid idle again.

I have one in my 550, z-start is the model I believe... it worked pretty well the whole time I ran it. The previous owner installed it.
The engagement rpm is just above idle ~1,900? I think.

Idle was just high enough for the headlight to NOT flicker or dim.

I haven't broke the engine down yet, but I am parting it out.

My ad is down the hall in the classified section.

If you'd like to try it out, pay the shipping and I'll send it to you.

If it works out, simply pay what you think it's worth.

If you don't like it, or it turns out it doesn't work as expected, send it back or I/you can sell it and ship directly from your location.

The post regarding the clutch diameter makes sense. I've often wondered why they say our 650 will slip an auto clutch and yet they can hold in lots of big heavy v twins. Thanks Bushie.
I guess it depends on what the reason for the rekluse is. I don't feel it is needed on the street, that is why mine is out right now. If you want to tame the beast a little for the woods, the clutch works great. In the spring I rode mine in an enduro with the clutch and it worked great. If I find myself without a street legal bike to do an enduro, the clutch will be going back in.

I'm in two minds with these clutches! They seem like a good idea but part of me still says " just use your fingers to pull that little lever on your bars there!" That being said, I have found myself in numerous occasions where I have stalled ( due to my own inability to ride some obstacles) and wished I had one! Of course, being the lazy guy that I am, if I had one I don't think I would take the time to perfect the right way to negotiate such obstacles so at this time I will do without ( for now), ha ha!

Its a bit of a beast in the trails. I have a fairly tall gear ratio, so i need to use the clutch a lot more in 1st gear. I think the auto clutch would be so nice in the tight trails i seem to always find.

I need to get out for a ride, works been so busy i haven't been ridding much :/

I have a 2002 FE650 with a Revloc clutch. I noticed it slipping in 6th gear the most when I crack the throttle at 50MPH. The motor jumps about 1500 RPM as the bike accelerates to catch up with the motor. If I downshift to 4th and crack the throttle at higher RPMs I don't notice the slipping much but of course I have to shift quickly. I put a new clutch pack in it last night and still have the same acceleration results. I do most of my riding on the trails so I guess I will just live with it. My problem is being in too high a gear in the tight stuff and overheating my engine due to the clutch having to slip so much. I need to get an overflow bottle to capture the coolant and be more cognizant of what gear I am in.

have you no adjustment on it? it can't take the loading obviously but you need to try and adjust it and sort it out? with the rekluse everything was adjustable, the trouble was, everything needed adjusting!

the auto clutch will do it for you;)
clutch hub just too small in diameter to hold a 650.

I have a rekluse Z start pro on my FE 650 and must say it has been working flawless the last 6 years.. Its very nice when snowbiking and for trails I think it works great.
I notice that it could slip then full throttle in 6 th gear but I can live with that..
