aside from the paper filter is ther another gauze filter anywere on this engine?

There's a screen filter beneath the plug where you drain your oil. taking a pair of needle-nosed pliers and putting some tension on the inside of the lip while tugging on it will usually pop it out if the o-ring on the end hasn't gotten too used to sitting back there
