HI, I'm new to Husaberg and recently saw a 2003 FE 501 advertised for $2500. Seemed like a good deal. Originally I was looking for a 450. How does the FE 501 compare to the FE 450? Is the 501 a good bike? Anything to look out for? Thanks

it depends on the condition of the bike. that seems to be an average price for that model around here. the difference between the bikes is considerable. the power delivery is very different, with the 450 needing to be revved higher due to its short stroke to produce the most effect. you can still ride the 450 at lower revs quite nicely, but when in race mode, its a very quick, responsive and effective trail bike. of all the bergs i've owned, my 450 is by far the quickest on the trail.

It seems like a good deal because I'm comparing the 501 to, say, a 2003 KTM 525 EXC which would sell for probably $1000 more than the Husaberg and yet they seem to be very similar in terms of reliability and build quality.
