Please give me an opinion if you have one in regards to appropriate gearing on a 2003 fe 400e fitted with a 39 mm fcr carb :?: the bike has not been ridden yet. but soon it will be shuttling around an okay rider with bigger balls than brains or skill.it will be used out west here for general trail riding, enduro racing [ours are not as tight as some],hare scrambles ,desert racing, well just about anything except freestyle manuvers on purpose anyways.thanks for your views.thanx,Dan.

well i run a FE400e '02 model w/ FCR fitted how's that for comparison?

i run 14/52 as i don't like a 13T front. this is great now for racing enduro. can't get it flat in 6th on our tracks and in the meantime the REAL reason for changing from 14T x 48T is because of the overrun into corners and ruts-the bike can tend to plough into the wall of a berm and when you open the throttle it doesn't react and sit at the angle you quite want.

i elongated the chain safety block slots for the bolts under the swingarm and have no issues at all.

regards

Taffy
