Would there be any problems putting a 2003 450 engine (still waiting to hear which version) in a 2002 501 FE?

My 501 needs at least the cam chain doing and maybe some other work – work I don’t really have the time to do at the moment and it looks like I could get a second engine for around the price I’d be paying a garage to do it.

Or, anyone around the south in the UK wanna do some engine work for a reasonable rate :).

You can put a 450 engine in to any Husaberg frame 2001-2008.
The only thing you need is the carb rubber from 450, its in a angle.
If you could get a engine for the price of a overhaul, i´ll buy some.
we charge 700Euro for a overhaul incl work/bearing kit/gaskets, other parts comes extra.
A second hand non overhaul engine we pay 1600Euro, add 700 if its mint condtion.

make sure it is a 450 cos they weren't introduced until 2004 model year

2003 was the last year of the 400

if its this one id be careful.

what idiot cuts a bike to pieces just cos they cant get the swing arm piviot out.

i've had them seized on 3 2nd hand bikes, 1 a husaberg, whilst its a bit of a mare they do come out with a bit of work

Cheers for the thoughts.

It was that one.

I've asked and now got a reply; apparently the bike was written off due to a bent frame, so that bit's more reasonable, to some degree.
Definitely wouldn't be offering full money he's asking and even then would be checking into the whole scenario first before even considering it.

8O yeh i saw it too, i wonder if the previous owner is still looking for it :!:

a tad overpriced i thought too.

i am a part time husey mech and would look at your 501 for a reasonably sum!

i would absolutely ask if the 450 engine still has the engine number on it?

also when you swap new engine to old frame you need the to get the ignition system sorted.

i have a newer frame with the old engine and the coil mounting was different.

Looks like my 03 400 engine. I believe 450 engine had 2 piece clutch cover when they first offered that displacement.

Now all sorted by taffy, cheers!

Haven't had the chance to ride it yet, but now starts soo much better, at least.
