A quick question, does anyone know if a 2002 FE501 engine will fit into a 1994 FE501 frame?

Thanks a bunch
:?:

I would seriously doubt it. Of course you can make most anything fit it just depends on how much effort you are willing to invest in the project.

FE501 1994-2002

Has the FE501 2002 got a completely different frame from 1994 FE501?

has your bike got a straight tube all the way down to the bottom of the cradle from the head stock or does it split into two then join the cradle, if it splits then there is a good chance it will fit.....ian

Yes. The frame was redesigned in 2000. The most noteable change was the subframe is welded to the frame whereas before it was a bolt on.

From 2001 on all the frames are similar. In 2001 the new engine was introduced which could now use the same frame for both e-start and kick start models. Prior to 2001 the e-start model needed a larger engine cradle because the starter was placed in the front of the motor adding extra length.

The 2000 model was the only year that used the new frame with the old motor.

Thanks Ian,

My frame splits in two and then join the cradle,it is a left kicker.

also is the engine a left or right kicker ....ian

Sorry to say scrap, but the above comment, shows you are utterly non-qualified to make posts in this thread. If you don't know something, please don't pretend that you do. ricco and others don't need to be led down the wrong path.

Just so you know, Husaberg has never made a "right kicker" motor.

Hi gents

You didnt say if the engine or frame are e-start versions

A 97/98 kickstart only engine will fit in a post 2000 frame definately because I've done it with a 2000 frame, mated with 99 forks shock and swingarm at the moment ( not happy with the how the steerking head/top yoke is fitting though at the moment)

Therefore, logically, it SHOULD work the other way around. I don't know if a 94 engine is that different to a 97/98 at the casings/ mounting points (I'm sure someone in here will know though) or if a 2002 engine mounting points are the same as a 2000.

The only thing to buy are the engine plates (and thats cos I had an estart 99 originally - the engine goes straight in - using the 99 swingarm. Not sure if the 02 swingarm is wider at the pivot/bearing points, but thats next on my agenda too.

A 2002 engine won't fit in an estart frame as far as I am aware as the front mounting points are completely different. You would need special plates made up as the cases are longer on the old one

There is only one front mounting point on the estart frame and oldestart engine and the motor sites a bit further back in the frame, though the rear mount is still the swingarm pivot

Also know for a fact that the newer coil won't work with the 99 and prior engine. It will fire up but not rev beyond 3/4 range - a fact that a former Husy UK dealer singularly failed to spot over the 4 weeks (and £180 quid later) that he had my 400 in his shop!!!

Confused... i am just reading it back!! but hope it helps someone

Cheers

Chris

well, the estart engine wasn't available in 94, so the frame is prolly pretty close. one should take a tape measure to it in the areas of width at the swingarm especially.

log, whassup... get back on the meds, dood
