Hi All,

First post here, I've just swapped my k100 cafe racer project for a 2002 fe400e. It seems in pretty good condition. First thing is have noticed is none of the lights work. I pulled the tank off and was met with a massive tangled mess of wires. I found a wiring diagram online and have it all working now in a stock configuration.

I would like to rewire the bike so it sends all charge to the battery, then the lights run from the battery, rather that half the charge to the battery (via the regulator/rectifier) and the other half for the lights via the regulator.

My question here is, can the standard regulator/rectifier handle the full 70+70 watts from the stater? and if so what does the forth empty terminal on the reg/rec do, can I simply plug the second yellow wire into this? Or do I need to buy something like the 150watt trail tech aftermarket reg/rec?

Thanks in advance,

I'm really loving the high level of the components on this bike.

Also can anyone point me in the direction of a service manual containing a wiring diagram?
I did find an excellent PDF online after much googling, but I can't seem to find it again. It listed all models 400-600. I have a screen shot of the wiring diagram, but it's a bit blurry and mine has turn indicators as well...

I have found one specific fe400 manual, but it doesn't seem to list the exact wiring diagram that my bike is.

Sorry if this has been covered, I have searched and googled to no avail.

Cheers.

would you believe it but the wiring diagram is in the owners manual. the wiring diagram for 2001-2002 will do. 2003 had a combined reg/rec otherwise identical.

write an email to me and I'll send you a PDF version by return. it's not a problem...

cheers
