Looking at a nice 2002 FE 400 (street legal/electric start) Looks low mile/hour. Looks good. What are the known issues with this model? Is it a good dualsport bike? Can anyone tell me a little more about this bike?

The 01 and 02 models had plenty of issues and the starter will give you the most grief. Check out the Owners doc listed on the home page as it was written by Taffy who has an 02 400.
I would rate the 01 model as strongly avoid and the 02 as avoid.
See if you can pick up a 04 or newer model as they are vastly superior.

pretty much have to agree with eric except that we need to make it absolutely clear here (and haven't we been honest so far!) that if you sort 6-76 things out, YOU WILL have a great bike. no not a british bike or harley that still falls down or an eyetie bike that has poor chrome and electrics BUT a really nice bike.
the design and basic mechanics are superb.
they just built in about half a dozen mistakes.
