Hello - I have a low original hour 02-03' FE 650 Enduro that has been in storage for 15 years in mint condition. Can folks on this thread share any "known" issues with the bike that should be addressed before I swap the dirt wheels for supermoto, upgrade the brakes and start riding on the streets? I'm a 52 year old rider who will go pretty easy on the bike - Sunday rides of around 40 miles or so maybe twice a month.

Any input from owners of a similar bike would be appreciated!

Thank you!

which is it, 02 or 03? they are different.
if '02: r6 starter, new style decomp, steel cam gear.

If its an 03 you should be in good shape. Keep the stator dry as water seems to get in there corroding the windings. Dry the area around the stator and flywheel after every wash. Keep an eye on the waterpump seal. Slight seepage from the weephole is O.K. but usually gets worse with time. This is a known issue with all 01-08 models and you will become adept at side cover removal and seal replacement. Tons have been written about how to do this. Its a good idea to gather and have all the parts you need well in advance of having to replace the seal and associated parts.
