Well, after tinkering in my spare time i have my 2001 650 restarting on the button for the first time. I had stator rewound first, this was a problem on this bike from the get go i think because it was always a bear to start before. also i have a r6 starter and updated battery. the decompressor was also replaced. I am sure glad ive had a 2006 fe-650 to ride while messing with this one. I have been on a mission to make my 01 start on the button one day and i finally made it happen. So older berg owners out there, it can be done. dont lose hope and research all the knowledge on this site, you can do it!

So, what did it do, or not do, before, and what about the Sprague? Did the starter spin thru before? THis is great news !!! I want to get my starter working !!!!
Mike

I did replace the sprague also i just forgot to mention that. Up until recently i never was able to use e- start period. After getting the stator rewound by sparks this bike became much easier to start on the kicker, glad i did this first before i even worried about e-start. On the kicker it starts in a couple of kicks cold and one kick warm, have only used button when warm so far.

Wow, looks like a stator rewind is definitely in order......
Which decompression device did you replace?
Mike

curtiss are you a yank? god you are lazy! all the info is there so get off your arse and do it. or are you going to turn up and play for the winning side again when we get a two goal lead?

EVERYTHING IS IN THE DOC. so come on dude, lets exercize that body today shall we/ lets start with the eyelids and build up!

regards

taffy

Steady on there old chap...it's fine to read all the tech in the doc & great doc it is, but for us mere mortals it really heps for someone to decsribe exactly what they did and answer questions. Is'nt that what the UHE is all about - sharing info - not just beiong lectured...

...and in taffy's defense, a search will find a few wordy threads about the subject as well :2cool: (and some links to same from "the doc")

More than likely the" Autodecompression" device.

Yes it was the autodecompressor. Also the other day i was out in the garage and just for fun i tried to start the bike cold on the button, it was about 48 degrees F, it turned over very strong and started . i was amazed. i never thought it possible on this bike.

yank?

Taffy
......I read your freakin doc......It is full of what if's, maybe's, and could be's, and info that does not describe my bike exactly. I would like to get my bike in order without spending a fortune doing it......
Maybe you have nothing more to do than rebuild crap on your freakin Husaberg, but I am a busy person, running a construction business, trying to raise 3 kids, and fight to have a spare minute here and there to ride a motorcycle.
....you got some nerve making cracks about me being a yank (which I am not), calling from where you live......wow......go be a smartass someplace else.....I am not impressed, jerk.
