2001 FE650E Starting Problem

Hi Guys,

I hope somebody can help me out, my bike usually starts first kick in the morning, after that you can stand on your head and kick till you blue in the face (and left foot) she will not start.

I have been told that replacing the ignition system "should" sort the problem out but at R3500.00 its a bit steep to take a gamble on. The local agent says it could be an intermittent problem on the ignition system.

I have also been told the 2001 650 has had many starting problems and this is normal. I would really be happy if I could get the electric start to work but is bearly turns th motor.

Can anyone help out here, I am Desperate!!!!

does it run well but only start when cold?

if so you should look at leaning the mixture off as much as possible at idle.

i would also look at changing the batomizer and needle as these are known wear items and i can't believe that that fine SA dust doesn't help you!

i suggest you try leaning it off on the fuel screw and also that you hold the atomizer up to the light and look through for ovality and the needle for wear.

regards

Taffy

She runs like an absolute demon when going, starts well first thing in the morning but won't start thereafter.

I have leaned out the idle but havent checked the atomizer and needle. goona check that today and check resistance in the ignition system aswell.

will keep you informed.

Any other ideas will be well appreciated, I'm willing to try anything...
