hey, new too both the forum and bikes , havent been riding for ten years, last one i owned was a moped so alot has changed since then :p
so here is my problem,
i cant get my clutch to work,
i have put new wear plates in it , new oil, backbled it , no clutch,
I can pull the lever and have pressure on it but it wont disengage the gear its in... when i have the clutch cover off i see it moving about two mm when i squeeze the handle... is this enough or what?
knowing 2000 model had issues with the slave cylinder i ordered 2001 model pump today ..
also ordered rep kit for the master cylinder even though it seems sealed ...
any tip much appreciated'and yeah, are the steel discs supposed to be warped? except from the first and last? the guy at the garage said they where supposed to be but it dont make sense to me...

Warped plates will make a clutch grab. I used a pane of glass to check for warped plates on my hasty. I had one warped plate and the clutch was grabbing. Put in a new plate and problem solved. I would be looking for new steels.

thanks alot:)
i dont need glass, they are so warped they "pop" from side to side if you try bending them:)
ordered 6 new plates , 2001 y model slave cylinder with the imp piston, and a new pushrod sleeve as i can see wear marks inside itt and needed to shim it to get the correct measurment:)
if i remove one steel disc and one wear disc it works fine, but i guess i can break something by driving it like that while i wait for parts?+++++

upgrade to 2003+ clutch set up with me when you have had enough of that clutch drum!

have a look at the overall pack width? it should be about 21.6mm to 22.6mm

regards

Taffy

2003 and up? :) sounds interesting ;)
it works with one steel and one wear plate taken out as it sits now with the warped steels x6 ... so as far i can get a grip around it , the only thing i risk by riding with it removed is clutch slipping under heavy load or am i wrong???
cause i just want to try it so i see if there is any other issues with the rest of the bike..
new steels are on its way as written above ...
