2000 Wheels on a 1999 501??

I picked up a 1999 FE501 cheap - it's got no wheels. Previous owner had it supermotardrd and sold the wheels to some other 'tard.

A guy on ebay is selling a set of wheels for a 2000 - but his front axle is different from mine - so it doesn't look like it will work.

My axle OD is 16mm (give or take) and his is 20mm.

is there a sleeve or something I can buy to adapt it or do I just need to find a different set of wheels?

thanks in advance

Any competant machinist can make up some bushes to suit. I have a late model front wheel on my 98 501 and it enabled me to make the spacers captive, so works very nicely.

Captive, means that they are a slight interference fit inside the bearing and don't fall out when the axle is removed, they stay with the wheel.

i think the rear wheel might be a little off too - the axle is the right diameter - but the width between the spacers seems wrong - at least I can't easily get it slid into place!

:(

**edit - got it! just took some muscle! :D

Thanks - took her out on her first off-road ride today....

now she's a dirty berg

Besides the wheels - the wiring was kinda screwy so I had to figure out where everything went for the lights, signals & dash - added a new chain and guard, turn signals, Vapor dash, added mirrors, and of course replaced all the fluids and cleaned the carb.

Took some doing to get her started the first time - but eventually it fired up and finally this weekend I got out to experience the beast . Wow. Unreal power. Gets warm in a hurry though - reading up on the other threads - hopefully I can get that down before it gets really hot around here...
