i've had this bike for about a year and never let me down up until this weekend. the property was 60000 acres so big high speed riding but when it hot it was impossible to start without a pull start behind a big bear quad(very embarasing) somebody help me gain my pride back.

Hi Spaniard,

Wecome to the site, when the engine is hot remove the spark plug and cap see what sort of spark you can pull from the lead should get 8 to 10mm at least, make sure lead is away from the plug hole just incase there is fuel mixture in the cylinder.
Let us know your findings.

Regards

Steve.

RE: Re: 2000 fe 400 cant start

did that the spark is minimal. have gone through all electrical connections and cleaned and sprayed with wd 40, will get new plug again just in case. the only thing that i have discovered is there is small chips in my flywheel not sure if this could cause the spark to be less

Hi Spaniard,

If the spark is small when hot sounds like shorted turns on the ouput source coils, heat is a big killer of electrical insulation especially when it's not good to begin with.
Like I said in my last post you should be able to pull a spark 8 to 10mm hot or cold should be no difference.
Check out the resistance values
Red to Black 3000 Ohms + - 10%
Green to Black 165 Ohms + - 10%
Keep us posted
Where are you located?.

Steve.
