Hello All, I have been a long time anonymous luker on the site and am trying to gleen as much info as possible.
I purchased a 2000 Berg 600 electric start a few years back. As with a great deal of 'auction' projects it wasn't quite what it was described as, ah well - that is par for my course.
A few years, a couple of kids and a job loss/relocation later I am digging back into this thing, the plan is for a SuperMoto to commute to work on for kicks. I just had the head redone with new valves and seats $ $ and have a new piston and rings with a gasket set and a few other incidentals from MotoExotica.
I have read the Docs section and have printouts of the info, my question is this -
* do I use the 550/650 section for this bike or is this some sort of baztard child that wasn't built for many years and is it's own animal.
* I also need the external flywheel since I was ignorant enough to not use the correct tool and broke it (might as well be honest) can I use one from another size motor ?

Once I get the motor re-assembled, stock Dellorto rebuilt (upgrade will have to wait) flywheel/SEM situation straightened out I can actually start to get this thing coming together so it looks like a bike and not a pile of parts

Thanks in advance - more questions to come I am sure, feel free to flame me if this has been covered before !

The doc is primarily for 01-03 bikes with some info on the 04-08. There is some info that will apply to your bike. I am going to guess that most FE/FX SEM flywheels will work.

Your 2000 model has the old style motor which is a lot different than the '01-'08 motors and has a separate cylinder whereas the '01-08 motors have the cylinder cast into the lower cases. Also, the '01-'08 motors have the inition flywheel reversed - but yours may be that way also but I can't remember for sure. The earlier ones had an issue with the ignition over-heating and it may have been changed in the '99 or '00 model year to help prevent that from happening. If I could find my old brochures I'd know for sure.

It seems like the 600 was first made in either '95 or '96. The first one I saw was a '96 FX600 around the time I bought my first Husaberg ('96 FE501). The 650 size started with the new-style motor in '01.

Check with Rick Bozarth @ BOSS Offroad for ignitions and Dellorto jets (if you need them) as he seems to have a lot of older Husaberg parts. You might try Husaberg's web site to see if they have any manuals for your motor you could download, Unfortuantely, the service manual I had that also covered the 600 motor went with my 501 when I sold it years ago.

I just got curious and checked the Husaberg site and they don't show any sevice manuals for anything earlier than 2001. However, your bike does use the same ignition as the later ones with the reversed flywheel. I have one from a '02 FE650 you can have for the shipping cost.

RDP501 - thank you Sir. I appreciate that very much. :) I am now one step closer.
Just let me know how much you need and an address and I will drop it in the mail to you.
I am located on the Carolina Coast zip code 28532.

the 2000 600 is essentially the next generation inside. all that is different is the physical casting of the head, barrel and cases. the clutch and gearbox are the same, the cylinder head internals are the same. oil pump, clutch, ignition and flywheel and so forth are the same.

Taffy you are the man. Thanks to all for the help ( kudos to Randy ! ) -
I am committed to resurrect this 'basket case' of a bike even though it has been over 3 years now with it being pulled apart. It has been over 15 years since I have been on a dirtbike so this should be interesting :D

I have just purchased a massive amount of spare parts for Husaberg models of around this manufacture date and earlier, if you are stuck needing parts PM me the part numbers i may be able to help. I have parts books if you cant find the number just give me the description of what you want.
