Not new to the bike realm but this is my first husaberg and the first problem i ran into this forum was amazing with a solution so this is my question 1999 501 and i cant seem to find the oil filter all i can find is screw in cap spring and oil screen so i guess my real question is does this engine only run the screen

From 89-96 all you get is a screen. In 97 an oil pump was added to push oil through a paper filter. It still retained the screen, but moved it to a different location. Just guessing but from the color of your frame it looks like a 95-96 model. 99's had a silver frame and a blue tank.
