Hi Kieth:

The problem with the first generation e-start models is as you stated. They are very heavy. The heavy feeling is exacerbated by the high degree of front end rake. Coming off a YZ250 the Berg will feel earthbound (not a high flying jumper) and slow steering. It will howevr shine in the wide open desert. I would suggest you start with at least an 2004 model or newer. This is a second generation model and is very nimble and flickable. You would not be disapointed.

cheers for the reply , i thought that they only weigh 109kgs??? i need a bike to commute and run around on and this is about the best bike (so i think) for under $3000 with rego, what does everyone else think, am i waisting my time, are these bikes a lemon or something??? it will be mainly for commuting and maybe hit the trails once a weekend but yeh plz keen any comments comming, cause im still umming and arrring about weather to get it or not waste my money and buy another sort

cheers

keith

when i think of a commuter bike, i think more like a honda xr, xrl, or a kaw klr. the berg is much happier as a trail bike. its true that the early models are heavier. my 98 with a full tank was pushing 285#, my 04 is 250.
