1996 FE350: Stator and wiring questions

Hi - Here with more questions. Please take pity upon me, I'm not a motorcycle mechanic.

Now I have two stators for my bike. For the black to red reading I get 1070 and the black to green reading I get 23. With the other, I get 1526 for the black to red and 49.3 for the black to green. Which of these is not good? I know that the specs call for 1750 black to red and 23 black to green. I've tested them both several times because I just don't trust myself, but this is what I come up with every time.

The 1070/23 is in the bike now and I can't shock myself with the coil. Could it be the little aluminum box above the carousel? Maybe the coil?

However, I have questions about the wiring. Since the only wiring info that I'm finding in the Electrical and general posts include a call for a pink-to-pink, but I only have one pink off the coil. The only brown I have appears to just be for lighting.

Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about, in case no one understands what's been typed:

(Carousel and Is this the regulator??)

Thanks again, I've got nothing but help from this site. I can take constructive criticism too. Don't feel afraid to hurt my feelings; they've already been pawned. If this bike isn't worth it, please let me know.

Hi,

I'm afraid with those readings both stators are kaput. For your lighting the Blue wire is grounded and one of the Yellow wires connects to the Yellow lead coming from the regulator, then off the same connection it feeds the light switch.
Do you have a rectifier for battery charging or are you just running lights?.

Regards

Sparks.

Hi

As the master (sparks) says your stators are kaput, if the master says you belive in him.

The alum. box (regulator) have nothing to do with your stator values, and you should say if you have bat because you will need a rectifier like sparks says.

I don't have the 96 wiring, but I can send you the 98, its not different, and you can make it your way for the needs that you want, if need help just ring.
I can also send you the manuals and parts of the 96 if you want, just give me your mail.

Well that's a bummer, but I kind of figured that was the problem. Guess I'll be shipping my second one back.

I am only running lights, no battery.

If you don't have a bat and a starter, you can make a simple wiring.

Gone a send you mail.

Ok through a round about way I have aquired this bike from didibuyapartsbike. The bike starts and runs pretty good. I am working on some jetting stuff in another thread. The problem I have is the lights dont work. He posted pics of everything. It doesnt have a battery or a light switch. Not sure what wires to hook to what. Please help.

Ok I got the bike re-wired. Cant find out if it will work untill I get the carb straightened out though. I will let you know.

hey, thought i'd stop in on the forum. Kinda bummed out about the fe350 posts. I sold it because I found a 95 ktm 620lc4. Told the guy I sold it to that I never could figure the carb out. He rode it, bought it, and had it for sale three weeks later for not quite double what I sold it for. Claimed he had the carb rebuilt in the ad. The normal claims .

I did talk to the current owner after he found the forum. Told him what I'd done to it. Same as what's posted in here. Too bad. Hope it works out.

I came back to scour the pages for more husa info. Lc4 isn't half as cool I thought. Been looking at early to mid 2000's bergs. Wanted to see preferences and parts availability.

thanks

Hi

The LC4 is a truck compared to the berg :D :D

If you can, go to a 2004+ berg, you will save yourself some problems

good to know. I rode a 2001 fc550 today. Felt incredibly light for the size! Of course my wife's Elantra feels light compaired to the LC4. Missed out on a 2005 fc550 yesterday. I've got time to shop, it's ok.

thanks
