This amazing vintage bike puts out 58 HP and weighs 240 lbs and those specs are still impressive 28 years later. It also has Brembo Brakes an Ohlins shock and *********** forks. This is a low mile one owner survivor. Early on it had the flywheel come loose and cause some damage that was repaired under warranty which took a very long time. The owner had plenty of other bikes to ride so it sat for years in storage. When he did try to ride it there was a problem with oil consumption so it got parked until now. It came to me for repairs and my research showed a history of these bikes having a problem with crankcase ventilation. Supposedly it caused oil to be pumped out the breather into the airbox where it is burned. The popular solution was to install a one way check valve to prevent pressure from building in the cases. Before I did the work I noticed there was no sign of oil escaping the vent but I installed the check valve anyway and started looking for other issues. There was a good size oil leak from behind the flywheel that turned out to be loose magneto screws. Then the countershaft seal was leaking. After cleaning the fuel system The bike started and ran well but was blowing a lot of smoke. The engine probably has less than 50 hours and has great compression. Age hasn't been kind to the vinyl graphics which have yellowed and bubbled. Underneath, the plastics and everything else is in great shape. I left the graphics on because there are companies that can reproduce them from a photo if you want to restore it. At this point the owner is 80 years old and doesn't ride any more so he has no desire to repair the engine. My guess is that the oil ring was installed wrong or is broken. Possibly a valve stem seal is missing or loose? The price reflects its overall condition and need for repairs. These are popular in the UK and parts sources can be found there. This bike is street legal with electric start and clear title.
