my bike wont star,t took off gas tank and back of breather on carb. shot some starting fluid. kicked.. it shot my carb off, and the breather hose on top of engine blew out smoke like shuold be coming from tail pipe. nothing from tail pipe whats wrong ??? also kicks pretty easy but if try to pull start have to put 6th gear or won tturn over

The older bikes are prone to blowing the carb off if the mixture is not correct. I would suggest a carefull cleaning and inspection of the carb. Next I would download the hardstart guide and go through the checks in it.

Make sure some critter hasn't crawled into your silencer and built a nest. Happens all the time around here. Hummingbirds are naturally attracted to the colors on the mid-ninetys Bergs. I've never seen anyone have much luck with starting fluid on a big-bore single, and you can easily destroy a starter sprag with a serious backfire. Hope ya' figure it out . Corey :? 8)
