I have found a 1990 Husaberg 501 for $900.00 but don't know anything about these bikes. Owner says it's stock, runs good and is a little hard to start. Blue book retail is $1250/trade value $750, so price seems ok. What are your opinions on this bike? I'm 35, 5'10", 175lbs and would be riding offroad, not racing. I have a 2008 Husqvarna SM510R so I'm accustomed to bikes that need a lot of upkeep. Thanks for your time and help.

A Husaberg of that vintage might be nice for someone's private museum collection but that's about it. There were only a handful brought into the states back then which makes them quite rare and gives them a bit of a cool factor for old Berg die-hards like myself. They were mainly built for hardcore racing back then and needed a lot of tlc to keep them on the track/trail. Husaberg's first appeared in 89' I believe, so a 1990 is lacking the refinements to make them more durable which came along in later years. You may also have a hard time finding parts.

You have a nice list of modern bikes in your sig. Why would you consider a 20 year old dirt bike as something to go out and have fun on? The price may seem cheap, but it may take a fortune to keep her maintained.

Just my opinion.
