19" rear rim on 09 FE570

I like to have an access to better MX tires that is why I keep updating all my bikes with 19" rims...The question is: If I add some 3-5mm to overall redius/diameter of the rear rim, shall I adjust the shock lenght accordingly (to make it shorter by ?? some mm.)...what made me think of reducing the lenght of the shock ,even not necessarily for other reasons besides this one, was the recent experiments I did to my KTM 530.....reducing the shock lenght by some 2-3mm made a huge improvement to my bad suspension?.....I like to keep an eye on the small details..

I have a 10 or 12mm (can't remember) spacer in my 09 fe450 shock, lowered it a bit and it handles excellent combined with revalve and P15 spring

sounds good! I would appreciate if you send me a picture of this lowering spacer?

call me thick but if you change the wheel - you don't change the shock as a result of a difference in ride height? you change the front forks in the yokes.

the shock is about suspension. the forks are about the angle of the bike. so therefore you need to change the fork position to keep the bike sitting at the same angle.

if you had an eccentric adjuster in the eye of one end of the shock you could do it there.

the shock shouldn't be touched.

hope this helps.

Taffy

I just like to experiment even though in this case I believe the diff. 18/19 will be very small....I will wait untill 19 is at home and see how it fits/changes the bike.
