think husabutt is trying to point out that diesels are already in the hi-performance market.
sorry, already know that and have seen the Audi's in the flesh.
Also we're trialling a volvo turbo diesel patrol car in work whilst being good still isnt as good as the t5 petrol version that it is being considered as a replacement for. once the speeds are higher and your in 4th - 6th gear reckon there isn't much difference but in the first 3 gears the diesel doesn't compare.
my comment was aimed specifically at the above engine not at hi-performance diesels in general.
