11' FE450 STARTER SOLENOID CLICKING, NO START

I am looking for some advice, or to pull some others possible experience, with a problem that has now left me pushing/dragging my bike out of the woods twice. I have a 2011 FE450 that has been having issues with what seems to be the starter solenoid, located under the seat (white 4 wire plug, 2 yellow fuses).

The issue is when I push the starter button, the solenoid rapidly "clicks" constantly and does not start. (I have a video from my friends go-pro that I could post if need be to clear up what I'm trying to explain.) I am able to bump start the bike, but it only runs for a couple seconds (Which is only possibly by keeping the throttle beyond 1/4 the way open at all times). What is weird is that it just randomly fixes itself and randomly starts again. At this point I have checked the battery, and it holds steady at 12.74 volts and tests good at my local auto parts store. I have also pulled the tail section apart and check as good as I could that thier were no chaffed wires.

Should I replace the starter solenoid or does this sound like something else?

I had a starter that had water inside. Electric starting was intermittently failing then would not start at all. A good starter tear down and cleaning was all that was need.

To ensure water would not get in again I took the starter apart and rebuilt using High Temp gasket seal to enhance all five O-ring seals. During this second time apart, I noticed one O-ring that had been twisted during original installation. I am of the opinion that my starter was made on a Monday by a man who missed his morning coffee.

Ninayu, I think I seen a post of yours during a search before I posted. I pulled the starter apart and cleaned it up but it was seemingly perfect. No water, dirt, or corosion at all. I at that same time pulled apart the rear section like I mentioned looking for a chaffed or pinched wire but didn't find anything. I put it back together, and for whatever reason it worked fine until I got stranded the second time.

I figured I better look more closely at the battery, so yesterday I pulled the battery out to get tested and charge it. When I went to pull the terminals, they were both pretty loose. So I cleaned them up, covered with dielectric grease and buttoned everything up. I also packed just about any connection I could get to relatively easy.

So yes, I think I agree with you guys... Loose connection at the battery. So far so good. I'll see this Thursday/Friday when I should get in a good bit of seat time.

Thanks for the input guys.
