`10 FE390 valve clearance question

I've tried search, but did not come with a definitive answer, so here I go.

`10 FE390, around 190 hours, just acquired recently, don't know if valves were checked before, this is my first check, measured values are:

(IN should be between 0.10 - 0.15mm)
IN#1: between 0.13 - 0.15mm (ok)
IN#2: between 0.15 - 0.18mm (not ok) (0.15mm feeler drags)

(EX should be between 0.12 - 0.17mm)
EX#1: between 0.13 - 0.15mm (ok)
EX#2: between 0.15 - 0.18mm (not ok)

My question, what part of the accepted range is more desirable, the tighter or the looser?

So while IN#1 is ok, closer now to the 0.15mm looser limit, should I install a larger shim to be closer to the 0.10mm tighter limit?

Which shims would you change?

Many thanks for the help.

since its your bike, just leave that how it is for another 50 hrs

a bit loose is ok, if they are too tight then you need to do something.

Thanks. Can I assume the valves will get tighter over time? As the valves seat in more.

How do they get looser? Wear on the rockers or shims? Is it worth trying to flip the too loose shims?

yes valve and seat wear will make the clearance smaller

for it to get bigger the wear is on the other end of the system between the cam/followers/buckets/shims/rockers/pushrods etc depending on the engine and the top of the valve stem

in a perfectly designed engine the wear rate is equal on both ends so the clearance doesn't change at all

a bit loose is fine, id just leave it for a while. if you want to do something do it properly and get the right shims

sometimes you can improve things by just moving the shims around. flipping them might help too but i don't think by much.
