Hey guys, did a little searching but haven't found much info on the service bulletin for the new map and filter.

I have a CAN/US 09 so it already has the old comp map. Is the new one better? Change in fuel consumption or performance?

Why is the new air filter cage needed?

Thanks guys!

The filter cage change was supposed to be part of the fix to the cough stall situation that some have experienced, same with the 2010 comp map.

I have just had my 09 570 reflashed with the 10 comp map and did a short ride the other day with it. I didn't really ride the bike hard enough to notice that much of a difference, although my first impression was that it felt a little less crisp in the standard map position, maybe a little more fuel?? When I did ride it harder, it didn't seem to be talking back as much through the throttle body in the higher revs. So all in all not a very good test, just my initial observations.

I did not encounter a cough stall though. But that usually only happens when you're really whipping it.

I don't have the new filter cage either.

Interesting. In the automotive world a lot of flashes are steps backwards so its nice to hear it could be a positive change. I am not so hesitant to get it done anyway!

The bike seemed to be too rich at part throttle which I figured was hurting fuel consumption, so I was hoping for an improvement there. No more flame outs while in the air will be nice ( I had my idle set nice and high to avoid this potentially catastrophic problem ).

Either way the parts and flash should be done next week. I will post a report to give my feedback!

My new map and cage are on the way, but according to the dealer the cage is a bit like what they have in the Honda CRF as a device to stop backfires ignighting the air filter (this has happend to mates of mine). If you are from the old school and wash your air filters out in petrol (big no no !!), and your bike backfires, chances are you will set your air filer alight !!

I had mine done a couple of weeks ago and all seems fine :D Havent raced it since so final judgement will be made then.

Before it was done It had cough stalled a few times when out on the trails, but the problem was really high lighted when i raced it in tight woods,it would go pop and stall, nearly had me over the bars the 1st time   it did it at least once every lap (12laps).
