09 FE450 Wont start after storage

I havent ridden my 09 HFE450 For about 15 months.. I must confess to a dalliance with a 13 TE250.. but thats over!...

Anyway I charged the battery.. I hit the starter and it fired and ran for about 2 seconds then stopped.

It then just cranks and cranks with no firing?

suggestions please on what to do.. I have taken the fuel tank off as I suspected some kind of a fuel issue.. but the look of the throttle body/fuel injection looks a little mind boggling.

kia ora bro !

I would check the following in this order.

Malfunction indicator lamp

fuel pump cycling after a quick press of the start button

check for an injector pulse, remove fuel rail/injector assembly from throttle body but still connected to fuel hose, then while aiming the injector away from any ignition sources, press the start button and watch the injector it should spray out a fine mist of fuel.

it could be that you have a deposit blocking the injector from sitting so long.

Cheers Cobber!

yeah I was trying to figure out what the FI lamp is indicating..
It is on when the engine is cranking.. but I cant remember if that is normal or not?

Can I apply 12V to the connector on the fuel tank (as it is already off my bike) to check the fuel pump is working?

Yes my suspicions were a blocked injector.. just not sure of how to disassemble that.. its not covered in my manual :)
THanks for all your advice.. it is really appreciated.

The mil will illuminate when the power button is pressed, if there is a fault there will be a sequence of flashes after the initial light.

You can use 12v to activate the pump providing you use the correct polarity.

Removing the tb and then the injector isn't too bad, with the tank off that's half the job done

This might help you with your job. http://annahub.free.fr/husaberg/HUSABER ... 5B1%5D.pdf

Thats awesome thanks very much!..but it doesnt appear to have a section on the fuel rail or injector..i will try and figure out whats going on.. will yell if im stuck.
Cheers

Hmm dont know if i have made any progress on this or im just chasing my tail.

So I re-attached the fuel tank and couldnt hear the fuel pump when I pressed the starter button.

there was no fuel coming out of the fuel line where it connects to the throttle body.

I removed the fuel tank again.
I checked that there was voltage being applied to the fuel pump connector when i pressed the starter.. it was reading 10.7V

I applied 12V with the correct polarity to the fuel pump (fuel tank was empty) couldnt hear the fuel pump.
I decided my fuel pump is faulty.

I did a Google search and see there is quite a lot of issues with faulty fuel pumps on these bikes, but all seem to relate to stopping with high temperature.

I tried using a syringe to inject some fuel into the line attached to the throttle body and seeing if the bike would start.. but no luck. Im not sure if it needs a high pressure for the injector to work..or i have a problem with my injector?

You need 50-60 psi at the injector, if the fuel pump doesnt spin up when 12v is applied, then its munted bro. Sitting do so long I wouldn't be surprised if the pump is shot.
