09 FE450. Gives 1 spark, but no fault codes?

nowhere near here
My 09 FE450 has been a great bike. 500 hours now with no (zero) problems.

However, something has now failed. When cranking, I see 1 (one) spark. Then nothing. I have a spark sensor attached( clear tube with a coil that glows red when a current passes through it). Showed constant sparking until today.

However, I get no fault code displayed.

Anyone ever seen this problem?

Thx,

Tom

sounds like starter relay/solenoid or if you still have the OEM plug cap in - that!

there is also a way to jump 2 wires where the external service connector is. You will then get multiple spark and a fault code.

check connections to tps (throttle pos. sensor) and fuel injector.... thought I posted this yesterday, but it don't see it on the forum page. tps may be bad. you can just get to it with some long needle nose pliers, it's a pain but disconnect it and see if the bike starts...single spark is a pretty good indicator that something with the FI system is off...
