sand? how?

Breather hose came off during a big ride in wet sand, when I dumped the oil after the ride I unwittingly pushed the sand that had settled on the bottom of the motor into the oil pimp pick up when I put the screen back in.

I'd be surprised if you had a problem with the sand doing any real damage. you'll need every artery and jet to be cleaned out now and of course that one piece of grit that is left will come back to haunt you!

but that is a genuine big end gone there....G-O-N-E and probably nothing to do with the sand IMHO.

so look elsewhere?

You are right the sand didn't cause the damage, the sand destroyed the oil pump and the damage is due to oil starvation.

I clean with a soluble degreaser and then blow dry with air, then once I'm ready for the final assembly it he's degreaser, air, solvent and more air. Ya could eat off the inside of this motor. And don't worry every channel aqueduct artery passage jet gallery pipe nook and cranny has seen the cleaning of its life, there will be no rework of this rebuild, I'd there is I'll have to re mortgage my dwelling. :(
