No!!!!
No!!!!

it doesn't look good to me.

the bolt is to the right of centre yet the punch marks look fine.a trick of the camera perhaps?

sheeeeesh!

NOT that one again!

they either look right Up or they must look right DOWN. it doesn't matter! which!

then you turn the engine over and put the rocker cover on. what is so hard about it?

my brains are burning here, but iirc, it doesn't matter at this point because all you are doing is syncing the counterbalancer to tdc.

On a side note, does it matter which side of the chain the spring clip goes on? When I stripped my motor the clip was on the inside, I found it easier to fit the link that way,:)

Yes the bolt is straight and true, just an optical illusion it think! So if the timing marks are all good the problem must be elsewhere, what's the next thing to rule out? If the decomp was not set correctly would that stop the bike from firing? The is no signs of life when turning it over no firing or back firing.

Cheers guys

Hey dekbro. Ive not been here for a while and may have missed the forerunner to this post so sorry if I am covering old ground, but.....

You set the tappets with the cam lobes down yeah?
You say its not firing, is the spark plug wet after trying to start it?
And you have tried a new spark plug (not just a cleaned old one)?
