Hello all

Going to pick up my 2007 FE650 this weekend, is anyone out there running a 650 @ 7000 feet? If so what jetting specks have you found to work good? Dan says they are waaaayyy lean from factory and told me what to richen up, but would also like to here what you have found to work too.

Have a shelve full of parts just waitng to go on this beast, can hardly wait :D

I've run my '05 @ 7000 with no problems using Dale's jet kit at his recommendations for setting. Tried a couple different settings but went back to what he said.

As you've already heard the bikes do come from the factory jetted on the lean side to pass emissions testing.

In your case if you're planning to run the bike at an altitude of 7000 feet this lean jetting might just be perfect for you.

The only way to confirm this is to run the bike with the stock jetting, see what happens and make adjustments as needed.

yes I am going to do just that, thats how I jet all my bikes I get up here, I was just asking to see if anyone had any #'s for a base line.

Thanks all, will give a ride report when I get the beast home

For what it's worth, I have run Dales jet kit up to 7800 feet without issues in my 650.The same bike ran the Baja 1000 with no jetting changes. I'm going to install one (jet kit) in the 496 soon.

I did that already, sorry not to post details, way to lean even up here, just fine tuning now, trying a few proto type parts from scary fast and F2 racing as we speak, they are in the same town as me. will pass on info as I get it done

I am @ 7000 feet,as of now with a akro exaust, 165 main, 45 pilot, OBDVR needle in the 3rd position, a F2 fuel screw 2 turns out. Starts and runs REAL nice, plug looks real good. Had a 3 second squirt, put in honda diafram and am down to 1.5 now, that should help with milage still tweeking that as we speak

even the 1.5 seconds are wrong. you just wasted your money. to do the Bk mod. go to TT (thempertalk) and put BK mod in a search. it's easy to do and it's pretty much free. if you had a mark1 it would be called the Taff mod.

but what do i know?

nope sorry you r wrong, 1.5 is with the power shot pump cover,i should of explained better. I am going back stock as we speak and will get it shorter yet,as the power shot has a deeper design= more fuel! I did not pay 4 the cover, just the diafram, my freind is scary fast, so it was a experament. :D

you want no fuel at all but if you want some and insist (and can't be saved from yourself) then you need a .5 second squirt of as little as possible. there must be no delay. touch the throttle from closed and stopping after .5 seconds.

it was me that came up with the original figure and i actually said .028" whiactually .7mm and the only reason i said it is because it was the minimum the pump could stand and still operate.

good luck

cool, I do think like you Taffy, I am real close to the above mentioned, i do like the pumper squirt, this is not my 1rst 41 pumper I do also have a 06 husky 610 is just awsome with the way I have it tuned, also my wifes 07 450x honda has the same carb, runs like Steve Hendgeavelds, of course scary fast helped me on that one, since he is the one that set up his bike, you know the baja 1000 winner this year! Woooo hoooo go steve, can you imagine if he was to ride a 650 hussy HOLY smokes he would rip. Oh thanks for your input Taffy, I never stop learning!!!!!!

Sethro,
My specs wont work for you because of Lineaweaver replacement jets and needle. Also as part of the kit, you disable the accel. pump completely. I am running a 165 main jet with his kit.

well got it dialed in to the T, runs like a champ, did find more air in the cooling system, you must bleed more than once to get it all out, anyway, got the squirt where I want it and it runs flawless!!!!!!!!
