Yesterday was out with some friends doing some forest trails.. slow easy pace.. at one stage i lost balance and droped bike over left side. Being quite a steep hill the bike was almost in an upside down position.
Bike is an 2007 FE450
Picked her up, tried the e starter.. just herd click click and no engine turn.. so i the tried the kick starter.. solid.. will not move! Tried the decompression lever.. all the same.. solid as a rock.

To add some info,, i had a look at the oil level and it has dropped quite a lot. Bike standing upright i cannot see any oil on the visual inspection glass.

I am hoping that the combustion chamber is filled with fuel or oil and is sort of "hydrolocked"
Tried to remove spark plug to inspect but my normal 16mm tube socket wrench does not fit because of the rockers..

Any clues on what might have happened ? All help is very appreciated

Working on getting a spark plug socket wrench thin enough to fit..

Thanks very much

you'll need the factory 'box socket' which is excellent for getting the plug out.

it can only be hydrolocked as you say or the kickstart mechanism has jumped off.

cheers

Hello Taffy.
Thanks for the insight

Cheers

Plain simple box spanners are thin enough to fit

Hi everyone.

So the combustion chamber was filled with engine oil. Spark plug out.. oil came out. Quick fix.

Thanks for your help.

Any recomendation for where i could buy a ktm box socket for the spark plug removal?

Thanks

I did much the same once, a storm before left sticks everywhere and going down a track that no one uses anymore a stick must of wedged under the engine and lifted the back wheel off the ground tossed me off like a cliff on my starboard side, by the time I had stoped sliding down and crawled back up to the bike and started lifting the bike up, lucky the wheels were still just on the edge when I tipped it back over on the track, from laying say 160 deg up side down. F it was heavy lifting it like that but I gave it my all and thought if I don't get it over I am going to go down with the bike on top of me and I will never get the bastard back up, when I got my breath back, roo ted with energy levels near completed in the heat trying to steer this I just dropped the clutch out to start it but then she would just lock up the rear wheel when I was in 3rd gear rolling down the hill, I thought WTF so I hit the decompression lever and she fired up as I needed power though one bit real twisty log and washed out bit but the smoke, she smoked like a bastard for say 30km.

Hi there!

The husaberg 450 fe does not like being upside down!!
Yep mine smoked like crazy til, all the oil in exhaust burned off..

Because the air breather system is crap.
Jap Bikes that I have had, had a small blow by valve with a hole of say 2mm and a ball inside of this, so if she goes over she ball she blocks off the hole, problem solved, not only with it going arse up, but also if you have to much oil in the engine you can end up with oil going into the air boot just in front of the carby as well and the carby she swallows up that oil and makes him blow smoke then as well.

yeh, "swollows it up" which by then includes debris in the oil and one blocked PAJ/MAJ!

Any recomendation to solve or atleast improve the engine breather system?

Thanks

On the subject of spark plug socket, I took a 16mm, 6pt, deep well, 1/4 drive, shorten it to 50mm in length, then brazed a 1/4 U-joint in place. Works fine in the garage but would only add to more tools to carry on those long rides.
