Went for a good ride for about an hour, then the bike was running hot and the fan was on and off for about 15 mins. I high sided ontop of a boulder where the bike hung up but kept running. I picked it off the rock and kept riding for another few minutes and then I stalled it. To my surprise the battery was taxed and could not start the bike, and I kicked it for quite some time before I went and got pulled out of the area. I did try to restart once the bike was cold, but again would not start with either kicking or the button (which was barely turning the motor over). Brought it home and charged the battery and she started up easy, than shut er down and the same problem.
WIth a voltage reader I tested the battery poles while running and it read 12.7, so it seams that I must have a dead short, otherwise the volts should be closer to 14. When I got hung up the bike was on the stator side and there are some sizeable garfs on the bottom of the rad, the cylinder (close to the wires coming out of the stator, but they are not damaged), on the mounting brackets for the starter and then on the frame. I checked all my connections and checked over all the wires and everything appears ok.
Any ideas?
