06 FE650 Jetting for Supermoto

Hi guys, I am running my FE as a supermoto. Does anyone know the difference between the OBDVR, OBDVT, and OBEKR needles? I am expecting the OBEKR soon, but have to run on the VR or VT and would like to know which one would be best and at which setting.

The repair manual calls for OBEKR 4th from the top, 160 main, 45 idling for the FS model.

and OBDVT 2nd from the top, 160 main, 38 idling for the FE model.

Thx for your help

Simon

your best needle is the EKR but with the 38PJ. the DVT will give you excellent start, restart and idle characteristics. but the clip should be second from the BOTTOM not the top. i would also add 5 to that 160 for any D series needle. so 165 for them. DVT is better than DVR in the areas i have mentioned above. if you ride above 3,000ft or so then drop 5 off any jetting figure quoted.

Thx Taffy, I am going out tonight and will try the above mentionned. your new springs are in and I noticed and definite reduction in engine noise....stand by for more.

Cheers

Sorry I'm a day late but won't be a dollar short on this, put a 48 pilot in 2 to 2 1/2
open on fuel screw, every thing else the same.

I have seen a mix of his kits some happy some not! IMHO not worth the money.

Whilst I stand to be corrected, the manual is deceptive in the carb specs. When referring to 160mj/38 pilot/dvt needle etc we all assume that it refers to FE models, and the specs in the brackets (160mj/45pilot/ekr) are for FS models. My '04 fe650 (in New Zealand where we don't have strangling EMMISSION RESTRICTIONS) came standard with 160mj/200maj, 45pj/100paj and EKR needle. I currently run Taff kit jetting with an EKR needle. I believe the "FE" specs in the manual are simply emmission control specs. You should all migrate to NZ!

Hello Barry

I can defo say you didn't get an EKR needle in your kit mate!

lets just say the last letter was either a T or a U!

I know, its all your kit in there except the needle. I have been swapping your needle and the ekr and observing the characteristics. I think I'm right about the husaberg manual though. The two different jetting specs are not to do with fe or fs, they're to do with restrictive emission controls relative to those countries or not.
