I've been tinkering with my 06 fe550e all winter. New timing chain, upgrading the valve springs to the dual spring style, a new water pump seal, etc.
I'm old, but I do recall doing something to the battery and related bits like the starter relay. I think I took the bits out to allow me to remove the carb and install a fancy needle valve I could adjust by hand.
I'm finally getting it all back together and tried to start it with the starter - nothing. There's not even power to the digital chingus in front of the handlebars - it should (and used to) turn on when I pushed the button on the right. The battery is showing around 13 volts so that's not the issue.
My question is this: On the starter relay, there are two large terminals. One is marked "B," and one is marked "M." I would assume the B terminal should be attached to the wire from the Battery, and the M should go to the starter Motor.
However, as you can see in the photo, they are backward. The M terminal has the wire from the positive side of the battery connected, and the B terminal is wired to the starter.
I'm old and may have forgotten what I did three months ago - just can't remember taking those two terminals off at all (but I may have). I can say that this is the first time I realized the B and M markings.
Sure, I could switch the wires and give her a go but I don't want to fry something. The electrical diagram is not clear on the starter relay to that level of detail. Would having these terminals backward cause the no power to anything condition?
Any help would be appreciated.
