Update on my 06 Fe450e:

64 hours now, 990 miles. Bought the bike in Feb 06. Checked the valves clearances today. The valve tappet clearances have not moved from the 0.004" I set them at back at 20 hours. I'm a weekend trail rider and probably don't ride very high in the rpms, but I do ride the bike lots.

I installed the Husaberg force radiator fan kit too. The fan install was easy as apple pie. Also did some summer jetting, dropped in a 45 pilot fuel jet, replacing my stock 48pj, and reset the FS to 1.5 turns. I was at 1.75 FS turns and with that 48 pj was feeling kinda rich lately down low and needing hot start more often to start it, it seemed with summer temps. I left the main jet at 175 and the stock needle at 3rd clip down from the top which is where I had it. I ride at 3-5000 Ft and now in 75-90F temps.

Bike is in great shape, I keep it clean and oil changed often.

Thanks again MotoXotica for teaching me how to set my valves.

BillTech took the rocker cover off Kelsows Fe450e(05) this morning and everything looks as new at 75hrs.Popped the clutch cover off as well and primary nut was very near correct torque...

good to hear your bike is holding up well. my 550 has about 60 hrs, about 1550 miles (some of that is fluffy dirt-road miles, but well over half of it is tight singletrack). i'm going to try to check the valves this week, but i also have to bottle 15 gallons of home-brew and make sure my 250 is ready for what is going to be a fairly evil dusty rocky sandy very hot 100 mile race a couple hours south of here in caliente (and 2500' lower, argh).

i also don't wind my bike out much, because it's a 550 and i only weigh 170 lbs, but it does get ridden hard.

fwiw, i put in 200 miles of tough sandy rocky tight sandwashes and dezert singletrack on 95 degree days with daryl folks (trac-on trailride) over the weekend. lots of other bikes were heating up and spitting coolant, but mine ran just fine and never had a problem, even going uphill for miles in 2nd gear in tight deep sand, using the clutch out of corners to avoid dropping to 1st. i guess i was correct in guessing that i don't need a fan kit.

Great to hear the new Bergs are holding up well for all you guys, especially being that I believe you are all first-timer berg owners! Happy trails!

wow change to a 45 pilot jet from 48 made a nice difference, 60F in the early morning at 4000 ft had some engine brake poping never had that before knew I was leaner down low, 30 minutes later as the bike warmed and temps warmed to 70F, no more poping, rode from 4000ft to 5500 ft temps near 85F Bike has gobs of power again, Sweet! summer jetting is dialed in.

The Fan comes on just about every time I come in hot and shut off the motor to talk with buddies. Fan never came on during my rides even when it was like 90F out side. Fan is loud and powerfull stays on for like 60 seconds or longer if needed.

All systems go!
