Hi all,

saw the 06 berg at the local bike show. Ok noted the tank and frame colour changes (so ktm colour used on frame and seat). They only had one 06, the rest were 05. The thing I was looking for was the new shock and forks, although the new tank allows spark plug and knee access it is no big deal.

The shock looked the same as the 05 as did the fork. Same look including decals. The ktms had shocks and forks that looked different.

I think the shock is the most important change, but how do I know the australian bikes are real 06 after they put new plastic on the 02 here and called them 03!!

Can anyone tell me how you can tell an 06 shock from an 05, there must be a stamp on them somewhere?

The official web site says all seat covers are dark blue, this bike had a black seat cover?

The 06 berg I saw had the old headlight with a different colour and the old number plate bracket where ktms had new stuff.

Have been riding bergs since 91. I know the motor has some good design and battery low and centred. They are meant to be lighter as well (are they). I must say that the ktms looked very good. The 450 looked better than last year, clean, small, fresh. The ktm 200 two stroke looked good as well. The suzuki 450 mx looked good and when they get an enduro version it would be good.

So how can you tell a real 06 berg from and 05, and the only significant difference appears to be the new suspension if you get it?

Any comments.

If Husaberg adapted the engine number codestyle from KTM, I believe the first digit is a sign for the modelyear. We use engine solely a lot for our quads and also look at this first digit. This digit stands alone from the rest a bit, somthing like 5 * ...... I can tell you more tomorow as I receive two 525 engines then from year 05

If the bike has a black frame it is an 06. Do you think a dealer painted the frame to fool you? The changes to the fork and shock are internal so unless you have x ray vision you cant see them. The sn on the frame will also help. The only other changes are the plastics and decals and if you look real close you will see the seat is a very dark blue. I have an 06 sitting in my garage right now.

thanks for the information. I must admit being a little wary after the 03 here was not the rest of the world 03, we just got the 02 with changed plastic. True.

I see the big change in the 06 being the suspension. If that was not changed then getting an 05 leftover would be better as they chuck in a kit that includes the titatium slip on muffler.

I suppose the other thing that disappointed me was the difference between the ktm stand and the bergs, particularly we do not get the bikes this year till december . There was only one 06 and the outside of the shock looked the same as the 05. WP usually does have a sticker change from year to year?

thanks, I will check out the frame numbers when next looking. The bike I saw had a black, not dark blue seat. It could be one of the first of a display bike and my keen eye is just picking up a few things.

I think I will go 450 this time?
