fuel mileage on the 06 550 dirt rider test bike was very good!

31mi per gallon is pretty good, that should mean about 75 to 80mi

per tank! We will share carb setting's to everyone who would care

to know after test is completed!

Good economy, good performance and going the distance without incident.

Let me be the first to publicly congratulate you and the entire effort via this thread regarding a job well done.

Sincerely,
Dale

Thank you, Dale that means alot! Have a great year!!

BOSS, can you share the carb settings used on the DR bike yet? Also, how about elevation and temp during the test?

Thanks, Jim

It really was very easy to make the 550 run good.

Stock needle 4th from top 2 open on fuel screw 45 pilot

182 main! we will see what the experts say from dirt rider,

kuz what do i no?

it's fairly easy to get good figures:

"anyway 60 + 52 + over 60 again for the last lap adds up to just under 3-hours of racing on my new slimmed down 7.5 litre tank! as the owners doc says 3+ hours are available from the standard tank with a keihin FCR and the jetting sorted."

that's a quote from my last race of last season.

the jetting for this has been available to view for nearly two years. go to 'the doc'.

regards

Taffy

I don't use the doc, I am the surgen taffy!

p.s do not assume all bikes should have the same jetting

from the last two years!! (doc)

well, even if i don't have the right jetting you can't beat those figures so i don't give a phuq.

fact is, been there, done that. anyone wanna argue with that statement?

Wow!
Such drama.
I could see the plug being pulled on this one from inception.

BOSS thanks for answering my original question.

The bike (06 550) came with a 182 main, 48 pilot, and 5th position from the top on the needle. It carburets (sp?) cleanly (70 F, 1500 ft) but cranks a little longer when starting it hot.

This weekend I did a 70 mile trail ride and had 104 ounces left in the tank. The pace wasn't real hard, but that works out to 43mpg assuming the tank really is 9 liters. Surprised me.

Taffy, I read The Doc before I bought the bike - good stuff.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Brad,
Such seems to be the trend.

Growing pains me thinks. ie The transition from close family to community at large.

Husaberg is indeed a business now.

Much understood. I am certainly not here to make life harder for anybody. You all know more about the machines and the difficulties around getting the most for/from them than I ever will.
