05 FE650E Lighting Kit?

Hey Crew!

Does anyone know where a guy could acquire a full dual-sport style lighting kit, that would mount suitably to an '05 FE650E, that includes signals (with switch gear), brake light (with switch), possibly high low beam headlight (with switch gear), & horn (yes...with button)?

Also, does the big Berg make enough juice to power a standard array of dual-sport lights?

Feedback from anyone who has added acceptable dual-sport lighting to an FE would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The euro harness is stock here in the u.s. thru motoxotica, I have listed all the part #'s in the eltercial section , same part's for 05, The 06 is even easier since the turn signals and harness are plug & play
note" purple/ brown are left turn signal wires.

The euro harness with the turnsgnal harness is 119.95, all other parts stock at Cyclezone KTm, 866-843-7433 ask for mike

The berg puts has two 70 watt coils, so you can run all the trucker lights you want and even more if you float the ground to get you 140 watts.

As far as the lighting kit, do a search for Bee Gee's post and get your Cdn pricing.

Call me for more info, check for pms

Thanks guys!

Berger, I did some surfing after my post here and found the Baja Designs site. Hardware looks good and the kit pretty complete, but it sure is not cheap!

Bee Gee thanks for doing such great advance research/work and sharing the details. I will follow Fryguy's advice and dig up all the info you have posted. I will be interested to compare cost with the Baja Designs stuff. If I have any questions I will be back!

Fryguy, as suggested, I have PMd you and will continue to play catch-up that way relying on your experience here in Alberta. In addition to learning what is available to place a dual-sport lighting setup on an FE, I need to determine if the exercise is worthwhile for what I have in mind....a street licensable FE.

Thanks all! I'll respond here again when I have a summary to my investigation.

I have to admit I like the look of the Eline lighting kit better.

That's why I got on my bike and everyone admits it looks good.

Bobzilla, good job :)

I just purchased my FE650 last week. It is a new leftover '05 and apparently came with the "Euro" wiring. It has the horn/Turn signal/hi-lo switch, hi beam indicator, turn signal indicator and front and rear brake light switches installed and functional. I think all I need is the horn with mount, flasher switch and signals to make it legal. It also came with two huge mirrors. Motoxotica is supposed to be completing a 450 that came with the "Euro" kit today, and Dan will know what parts these bikes need to be street legal, shouldn't be too much.

Eline does not market their lighting kits any more, but you can find them under the UFO brand, model "Oregon".

Look up "UFO Oregon" on DennisKirk.com, for instance this one, which is the yellow model, although the photo is black.

Coupled with the UFO taillight it is a great system, because the turning signals do not "stick out", which is the issue with the Dakar, where the turning signals are sure to fly at the first fall.

If you check my bike in my gallery, you should see the kit (as well as my bruises).

I truly recommend it not only because it is compact but also because the headlight only uses 35W and that is great for the SEM-ignited models. It is also hi-lo beam capable.

I do think you still need some extra parts for the handlebar controls, but I do not know what the 05s come with as far as brake switches and such.
