I just picked up a 05 fe 550e with 48 hrs on it,all scheduled maintenance done to it,was lightly trail ridden,I've had it out twice and put 75 race miles on it,I noticed oil seaping out of the hose on the top of the head ,next to the front valve cover, the hose clamp is saturated, has anyone expeirenced this?

Replace the hose. They get pourous or split at the clamp. Be careful not to over tighten the clamps on the new hose.

BTW, that hose is just the vent and goes into the airbox/top frame tube. One the hose clamps may just be loose. The vent hose on my '96 was never touched in the 10 years I owned it but, like berger said, the clamps may have been over-tightened on yours causing it to develope a leak. If you look into the frame tube when you remove the air filter you will notice the inside has a thin coat of oil which is normal.

Thanks ,may sound stupid but is that normal at 40 plus hrs
Yes, the rubber tends to dry rot. it may have to do with how much UV the rubber is exposed to. Some last years, some not.
