Hi guys. I'm relatively new to the Husabergs, I have had mine for a year now. I follow the recommended maintenance sched (I'm an automotive technician) and the bike has been performing well. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. It now has 125 hours and I was hoping for some pointers for what I need to watch out for. I have it dual sported and by most people's standards, I ride it pretty easy. Mild on the throttle (mostly), no big air (mostly), etc. Any suggestions?

RE:

Bayner

welcome to UHE mate!

i'm probably not best placed to answer this as i don't have your specific model. the doc does mention some of the stuff found but it's not all in one place but split into each chapter.

i don't think there's much wrong with the '05 at all.

i think the D.I.D camchain came along the next year. roller mains the enxt year but there's nothing wrong with ball race on the 450s.

anyway, you've been 'bumped' so perhaps someone else will add their bit.

regards

Taffy

Bayner,

Sounds like you have a good handle on thing's (good).

I don't normally come in behind the Doc aka Taffy :D.

You have the DiD chian & roller bearing's in your scoot that's good!

Maybe just pull the ignition cover & see if there is still play side to side?

There sould be!Hope there will be plenty more good times ahead!!

In my opinion you would be wise to rebuild the rocker arms, R@R the camshaft bearings and inspect the cam lobes.

Inexpensive insurance against a potential disaster.

FYI The new generation rockerarm is not rebuildable!

"Rebuild-able" providing you have suitable replacement hardware and are competent.

No part number does not = no part.

I have 125 hours on my 06 Fe450e

at 150 hours I'll have MotoXotica do a top end or whatever it is they do

Bike runs great. an 04 from a rider who rides like me was opened up by MotoXotica last month at 120 hours and it looked good so I'm going to 150

THANKS FOR THE INPUT GUYS, IT'S MUCH APPRECIATED!
Sometimes there's just no substitue for experience.....

it's not a big deal i hope you'll agree either way but i've just extracted this quote from the "engine upgrades" chapter in the doc. should have put it in chapter one as well however it gets you dizzy the amount of places the same info is worthy of print!

"Two seasons of racing and the shiny one is absolutely shagged! Note how the pins are like 3mm out of synchro! The bikes now come (from '06) with D.I.D as standard, renowned for being the best we trust there will be no more problems. "

Unfortunately if you own a pre 01 motorcycle and insist on good quality chain you will likely need to purchase two OE DID chains as the early engines cam chain is quite long.

Oh no, that means two master links as well.

Did I mention the American made bulk solid roller / solid pin chain I keep in stock? LOL
