Last year I set out to replace my water pump seal on my 650; as a newbie, it took a few tries to get it right (more like 6 seals before she was water tight). I used the clutch cover gasket a couple times too many, and she had a small weep from day one. This never really bothered me until now as the leak has gotten much worse and she marks her territory everywhere I stop, kinda like my Harley.
I have a new gasket in hand, but do not want to mess with the water pump seal again. Is it possible to change the gasket without having to disturb the water pump impeller and seal?
I was hoping to just pop the cover just enough to clear the dowels and slip a fresh gasket in there. Anyone ever try this?
Sure it's the lazy way out, but that damn wp seal can really test ones patience.
Thanks gents
