Hello all Husaberg experts!
What are the reccommended aftermarket exhaust systems and mods for an '04 fs650e?
looking for about 65H.P.
-Lookinng to help increase reliability (heard that the cam follower bearing can go at any time) and am trying to price a solution for this and any other common frailties that I may need to be aware of.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

Well, with the addition of a full FP race exhaust system you should see near enough that 65 without any further modifications.

Some of the 04 650s have spewed a main bearing or two but hopefully yours came out of the factory in correct alignment.

You really shouldn't need to worry about the cam follower bearings until the 50 hour mark with the 04.

Other than that, just ride it and enjoy......

Well I've heard of the main bearing problem enough times to make me nervous. Is there any way to correct this factory misalingment before the incident?
If not, will Husaberg fix the failure should it occur?
Also, not having to worry about the cam follower bearing till 50 hrs!
what will happen then? -50 hrs isn't much of an engine life, how can I prevent this problem?
finally how much will all this cost me?
--Exhaust?
--main bearing fix?
--cam follower bearing fix?
Thanks again!, Mike

The 50 hour recommendation was for the 01 and 02 bikes I believe. I think the 03 and 04's may be good for 150-200 hours. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Consider yourself corrected :D :D :D

They are still recommended to be replaced at 50 hours, BUT with the updates they will hopefully last longer compared to the 01s and 02s where we could see failures as early as 20-25 hours.

Mike,

Reply sent to your PM which should cover your questions.

I just checked the online 04 owners manual. It says to inspect the rockers at 90 hour intervals, unless you are using the bike exclusively for racing, then inspect in 45 hour intervals.

I think the 04 manual say replace the mains after 100 hours too

And did I say the manual says, indeed my first comment said "don't worry about them " until the 50 hour mark?

IIRC the 01 and 02 manuals said replace them at 50 - how many 650s required them replacing before that, or should I say how many lasted even near that?

I'm not here to read or quote the manual. With Husabergs I'm more interested in the empirical evidence and this pretty much overwhelmingly suggests - get in there early with these little beasties! :D :D :D

Maybe they are now fixed and I do hope they are and go on and on and on, but that's another chapter

So, on that count, it is recommended that........... preventative maintenance and all that :D

Cheerio,
Simon

I would check into a rev limiter.I think it is
excessive RPM that gets these bergs into trouble.
They just keep on winding.I believe TAFFY has
some info on the different ign.boxes and how
they influence the rpm ceiling.

Over here in Oz, the distributor sent us new ignition units because the earlier ones supposedly would allow to rev out in excess of 12000 RPM, and even though my bearings didn't collapse, I lost the E clip off the front of the oil pump, and then the locating pin dropped out, sucked through some of the gears and a few bits of metal through the bore, all fixed under warranty, new gears, bore, rings, etc. Going great now, Berg over here weren't even questioning the claims due to the ignition module. They did reckon the later ones were fixed at factory. I recieved my 04 in October 03, so there have been a few made since then. I do run a full FP system and its the only engine mod I've made and it dyno's on the 65hp.

65 H.P.-excelent

You relly can't beat the berg for off-the-shelf power to weight can you?
I'm very excited to pick mine up...
How does the akrapovic exhaust compare and what are the prices for these systems?

The Akro is a beautifully made piece of kit - real quality. I don't know the power output as we've done no back-to-back dyno testing against the FP but if their other systems are anything to go by, they''ll make good power.

I know someone who has a couple in stock at the moment. Retail here they are something like 600-650 pounds but export abroad outside the EU and that would be minus 17.5% percent.

Cheers,
Simon
