04 FE650E E-start problems

I just purchased this almost brand new 04 FE650E and can't use the E-start. The bike works perfectly but will not start even when the bike is hot and when the battery is fully charged. If I use the kick, it will start with one kick most of the time even cold so it is not a setup problem. It feels like that there is so much compression that even with the best battery can't move this piston fast enough to get it started.

This is my first Husaberg so I am not familiar with their peculiarities. The Husaberg dealer in my area is not familiar with the 04 as he started selling Husaberg in 05 but says there is an upgrade for the 04 starter clutch (I think that is the part he mentioned) that could cure the problem.

I used a battery charger in the starting mode (70 A) and the bike started but can't say it started easily though. The starter feels very different than my previous DRZ 400.

Any input on this would help. For now, it is a very small detail compared to the amount of adrenalin this bike is giving me (too bad, snow is coming)!

Merci!

Both my last two new bikes did that, 04 650 and 06 496. I find that if you
1) pull in the manual decompression lever on the bars
2) push the button
3) release the lever after a few revolutions
The bike should start fairly easily. I am sure there is some underlying problem, but as long as this method works....I'm good with it.

Is the spring on the auto decompressor shaft returning the weight to the "rest" position ??
Happens frequently when people work on Husaberg/KTM top ends- any idea if it has ever had work done on cam etc ??
Im sure you will find a lot about this if you do a search.

i would inspect the valve clearance , give it a new spark plug , drain the float bowl

when you use the e start , push it past tdc with the kickstart first , then hit the button .

AUSBERG has mentioned the auto decomp , if the unit is worn or suspect this would be the
cause of the problem .
