Hi All,
After getting spark on this bike it started and idles well. It now has another issue.
It wont rev up and stumbles and backfires at mid to high rpm. When this happens it smokes out of the carb and stalls.
Included is a video of the bike doing this.
The carb has been gone through and is clean. Spark-plug is new, Gas is fresh.
Any ideas?

take off rocker covers and take a look at valve clearance bolts... Check also spark plug cap.

that bike sounds like a bag of sh**! sorry :(:(

would suggest that you do the lot.

head off and look for bent valves
valve timing
clean carb and check all settings

it sounds terrible.

regards

Taffy

I assume that the carb is hooked to the air box? If not make sure it is then try again.

Are you sure, you assembled the carb properly? I would say, it is just a mixture problem when it is the needles turn. If the bike starts and idles without problems, why should it be a valve problem? In my opinion, the carb has no air at all after opening the throttle.

Yes I believe the carb is assembled properly.
I agree the bike sounds bad and will continue looking for the problem area.
Thanks.

it is also possible to put the slide into carb with the wheels backwards. I saw this in one bike and the bike was almost normally running.

After adjusting the valves (exhaust valves were way off) the bike now starts and idles much better. The issue with the mid thru high rpm stumble/backfire is still there..
I noticed the TPS sensor on the carb has a bad connection, could this be the cause?

Also, my buddy whom I'm helping with this bike said the problem came on suddenly while he was riding. It sorta died on him, then he said it was hard to start and when it did start it had this stumbling issue..
