03 or 04 fe450 ?

So i picked up a 09/2003 fe450. But on further seaching ive found it to be a MY04. As in built late 2003 and sold as 2004 models. Similar to new cars.

What im pretty much asking is. Is this true or just some made up internet ******** ?. Just wanna know cause can't find a 2003 fe450 anywhere. Plus the ID tag has 09/03 and fe450e on it aswell.

congratulations. it is a 2004 model. Australia got the first bikes each year as your spring is in Sept-Nov. so yup 2004.

Thanks Taffy. Didn't wanna go odering parts until i was 100% clear.

Are much of the 450 parts interchangeable with similar KTM parts ? Such as gear shifter and the likes ?

i don't know because I don't do too much to the KTMs. I know that we share valves, waterpump seals, cam PROFILE, cam bearings.....after that I don't know.

Interesting note Taffy about us getting the first batch of the year as such. I just picked up an early 2004 model 650 for spares. Thought I missed out on the pork chop crank but the rego papers say 628 as opposed to 644 like my 2003 I also own. Here's hoping I indeed have the stiffer crank and my bike is somehow the first of the 2005s?

it can't have a 628 pork chop engine in it. the pork chop 628 started with the 2005 model and Australia would have had that in your spring at around October time.

just my thoughts though, never say never!
