03 Fe501E is spitting oil after only 200 miles

But I have figured out where it is coming from, but I just want to confirm before I order the parts. Background - new bike to me that I bought a few weeks ago with only 40 miles on it

Anyway, because it has sat around with no use, the tube that attaches to the top of the motor has dry rotted and split. Now oil (not a lot but then again there isn't much to begin with) is spiting out when I ride. If I have looked at the parts catalog correctly I believe that I need a new Oil Trap. Can anyone confirm this for me as I would hate to order the wrong part. Is this a common issue?

Thanks. I am shocked that they have one in stock. 32 bucks seems a little steep for a rubber snorkel, but hey.

there are loads of us that modify them and put air filters on the end of a bit of pipe. i use a piece of wr400 tube that spits down onto my final drive chain.

go through lots of the gallerys and you'll find loadsa mods.

also look at the owners doc. this may have a hyperlink to ta thread that discusses it.
